Nurturing somatic yoga, healing chant & music, meditation, silence…
“Amazing – a wonderful balance of chant, yoga and free time. I’ve booked again and can’t wait!”
Join Sarena and friends for a deeply relaxing and nurturing women’s retreat, based in a Grade II listed house, within a secluded valley, near Charmouth, Dorset. With nourishing home-cooked vegetarian fayre and 11 acres of gardens, meadows and woodland to explore, this is the perfect nourishing environment to unwind and become still.
Exploring Spirals: Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th April
We explore Spirals, “one of the oldest symbols, representing eternal life, unfolding growth within and without, Spirit and Matter, death and rebirth, continuous creation. At the centre is the point of complete balance, a stillness within, around which all things revolve”. (Glennie Kindred. Seed Celebrations)
From somatic yoga & flowing mindful movement, to chant and mantra that support our personal and spiritual growth. Creativity is at the heart of this retreat in multiple forms – resting in Silence.
Creating & Celebrating Abundance: Friday 16th – Sunday 18th September
Late summer/early autumn is the perfect time to celebrate the abundance of all that is harvested from the fields, plus a time to reflect on the bounty we have received during the year in many forms. Gentle yoga will support an effortless ‘letting go’ of our busyness, creating energy and wellbeing through deep rest. Mantras honouring Lakshmi (the goddess of abundance) will re-ignite a sense of “we have enough”, of plenty, that already resides within us. We also embrace the gift of Surya (the Sun), and to reflect on how we can keep that energy vibrant within us as we head into the autumn and shorter days. Some Vedic chant will be taught on this weekend (no previous experience required)
Retreat : refuge – haven – safe place – seclusion – time away (from daily/usual life) – quiet reflection
The Chill Zone – Our weekly Friday afternoon restorative yoga class is the perfect opportunity to retreat and rest from your busy week. Online in the comfort of your own home.
The Path to Calm – A Beginner’s guide to Meditation (MP3).
“I adored the weekend and so many unexpected aspects made it incredibly special. I particularly appreciated Sarena’s generosity in her sharing of the sacred chants – what a privilege. ”
Our Retreat Centre
Monkton Wyld Court is a 19th Century Neo-Gothic mansion in an idyllic location close to the Dorset Jurassic coast. The eleven acres of gardens, meadows, woodland and farm are set in a secluded valley within walking distance of Charmouth and Lyme Regis. Much of the food served is produced using organic methods in their walled vegetable garden, or on the farm which supports a micro-dairy of Jersey cows. Monkton Wyld Court is a centre for sustainability and education who host a variety of courses in low impact living, natural building and wellbeing events. Previous Sound of Grace retreatants have shared their immediate love for Monkton, with its peaceful environment and palpable ethos to sustainable living.
Freshly Prepared Vegetarian Food
All meals are vegetarian (much is grown on site in the walled kitchen garden) and
includes eggs from their chickens, milk from their own cows, and fresh cheeses made
on site! All dietary requirements are catered for (Vegan, Gluten free, non-dairy milks etc).
The rooms are simple and comfortable with shared bathrooms close to each room.
Many have beautiful views over the gardens or nearby valley and hills. There are wood
burning stoves in the Hall, Library, the shared sitting room and our private practise space (The Pine Hall)
The Pine Hall
We have our own private workshop space as our ‘Sound of Grace’ home for the weekend; set away from the main house (but just a short walk)As the name suggests, the building is made of pine, with a half-vaulted ceiling (great acoustics!), one side is glass so plenty of light – and a large wood burning stove keeps us cosy.
A kitchenette and loo means we are self-sufficient during our times there. Morning yoga, chanting circles, meditation will all take place here.
